Federal Register 2016-12468 · Final rule; correction

The FAA is correcting an airworthiness directive (AD) that published in the Federal Register. That AD applies to Viking Air Limited Model DHC-3 airplanes that are modified with the Baron Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) kit (Supplemental Type Certificate SA94-114 or SA 00287NY). The Code of Federal Regulations reference for records maintenance cited in last sentence in paragraph (f) is incorrect. This document corrects that error. In all other respects, the original document remains the same; however we are publishing the entire rule in the Federal Register.

A correction restates part of an AD that was published incorrectly. It is not an additional requirement and it does not change the AD number or its effective date.

Full official abstract

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Viking Air Limited Model DHC-3 airplanes that are modified with the Baron Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) kit (Supplemental Type Certificate SA94-114 or SA 00287NY). This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as a center of gravity that is too far aft contributing to a stall during takeoff and loss of control during other phases of flight. We are issuing this AD to require actions to address the unsafe condition on these products.
