What we keep when you sign in

If you sign in, we store

• Your email address (that is the account)
• Your username and optional display name
• A password hash if you set a password; we do not store the password itself
• When the account was created and when you last signed in
• A hashed session cookie so you stay signed in on this browser
• The Airworthiness Directives you choose to save
• A passkey public key, only if you add one on a device

You do not need to give us your legal name, phone number, home address or date of birth. We do not collect a payment card. There is no checkout on this site.

Sign-in email

A sign-in link is sent through our mail provider, Resend. We use the address to deliver that link, registration confirmations and password resets. Resend acts as our processor for that one purpose and does not use your address for its own marketing. We do not sell the list. Search stays free without signing in.

Saved aircraft

When you save an aircraft (make, model, engine, optional N-number), that row stays on your account. The N-number is private unless you choose to show it. The FAA registry is a public record; our copy of your tail number is not. A saved type is not a claim that we inspected the ship.

What this is not

We do not determine airworthiness. We do not say your aircraft is or is not compliant. Official FAA and manufacturer sources control over our Records, subject to governing law. See our Terms of Use and methodology.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to count page views; the address bar's query string is never sent by our page-view event, and the raw text of anything typed into search never reaches it as an event. GA4 sets its own cookies to do this — a two-year _ga cookie and a second, two-year _ga_-prefixed cookie tied to this site's specific measurement ID — before you make a choice, on every page including sign-in. Cloudflare, our hosting provider, also runs a Cloudflare Web Analytics ("Insights") beacon on every page. That beacon is injected by Cloudflare's edge, not by our own page code, so we describe it plainly rather than claim a property of it we have not independently verified: treat it, like GA4, as a page-view measurement tool outside this notice's direct control. We do not currently offer a cookie-consent banner or a Google Analytics opt-out toggle on the site itself; the browser- and extension-level opt-outs described below work regardless.

Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no common, industry-wide standard yet for how a site should respond to it, so — consistent with CalOPPA's own guidance that a site state its practice rather than pretend to honor an undefined signal — this site does not currently change its behavior when DNT is present. You can still block GA4 and the Cloudflare beacon yourself with a browser extension or strict tracking-protection setting; both are ordinary third-party scripts a blocker can target by name.

Accuracy reports (the /report form)

The accuracy report form takes an optional contact field so we can follow up. That field is not tied to any account — filing a report does not require signing in, and deleting your account does not remove a report you filed, because the two are never linked. A report is kept for up to 12 months after we close it, and in any case for no more than 24 months from when it was filed, whichever comes first; after that it is deleted automatically. We use the contact field only to follow up on that one report.

Third parties who process data on our behalf

• Resend — sends sign-in links, registration confirmations and password-reset emails on our behalf; sees the recipient address and the email content.
• Google Analytics (GA4) and Cloudflare Web Analytics — page-view measurement; see "Cookies and analytics" above.
• Cloudflare — our hosting and edge-security provider; sees request metadata (IP address, request path) for every visit as part of serving and defending the site, independent of the analytics beacon above.

We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we have no advertising network on this site.

What we keep

If you sign in we keep your email address, an optional display name, your saved directives, and any aircraft you add (make, model, engine, year, nickname, and, if you enter them, tail number, serial number and notes - all private unless you turn on display). We use Google Analytics to count page views; see "Cookies and analytics" above for what it and the Cloudflare beacon actually set. Weekly digests are in development; saved preferences do not mean email delivery is active. You can delete your account, saved aircraft, notes and saved directives from your account page.

Ask us to delete an account

You can delete your account in account settings. This also removes its sign-in credentials and pending registration records. If you need help, email Info@aircraftdirectives.com from the same address you signed in with.
