Airworthiness Directives; ZLIN AIRCRAFT a.s. Airplanes

We are superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2003-11-12 for ZLIN AIRCRAFT a.s. Model Z-242L airplanes (type certificate previously held by MORAVAN a.s.). This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as a need to incorporate new revisions into the Limitations section, Chapter 9, of the FAA-approved maintenance program (e.g., maintenance manual) to impose new or more restrictive life limits on critical components. We are issuing this AD to require actions to address the unsafe condition on these products.

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to all MORAVAN a.s. (Moravan) Model Z-242L airplanes. This AD establishes a technical service life for these airplanes by restricting Acrobatic and Utility category operations and requiring replacement of the wings after a certain operational time period. This AD is the result of mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the airworthiness authority for the Czech Republic. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent structural failure of the wing due to fatigue cracking. Such failure could result in a wing separating from the airplane with consequent loss of airplane control.

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to certain MORAVAN a.s. (Moravan) Models Z-143L and Z-242L airplanes. This AD requires you to modify the engine secondary vent line. This AD is the result of mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the airworthiness authority for the Czech Republic. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent the engine crankcase ventilation lines from freezing during flight in cold weather (winter) conditions, which could result in oil leaking from the engine. Such a condition could lead to engine failure.
