Airworthiness Directives; Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. Airplanes
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. (DAI) Model DA20-C1 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report of a certain emergency locator transmitter (ELT) not activating due to a missing jumper wire. This AD requires a continuity inspection of the D-sub connector of the Artex ELT 1000 and, if necessary, corrective actions. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

HOAC-Austria Model DV-20 Katana Airplanes
Requires replacing the engine electronic modules.
Full official abstract
Airworthiness Directives; HOAC-Austria Model DV-20 Katana Airplanes
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to certain HOAC-Austria (HOAC) Model DV-20 airplanes equipped with ROTAX 912 A3 engines. This AD requires replacing the engine electronic modules. This AD is the result of mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the airworthiness authority for Austria. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) on the engine electronic module, which could cause the airplane engine to stop due to the interruption of the airplane's ignition system and result in loss of control of the airplane.

Airworthiness Directives; HOAC Austria Model DV 20 Katana Airplanes
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to HOAC Austria Model DV 20 Katana airplanes. This AD requires replacing the nose wheel leg of the nose landing gear (NLG) with a part of improved design. This AD is the result of mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the airworthiness authority for Austria. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent NLG collapse caused by cracks in the welding of the nose wheel tappet of the NLG, which could result in the inability to control the airplane during landing, takeoff, and other ground operations.

Airworthiness Directives; Diamond Aircraft Industries, Inc. Model DA 20-A1 Airplanes, Serial Numbers 10002 Through 10287
This document publishes in the Federal Register an amendment adopting Airworthiness Directive (AD) 97-13-02, which was sent previously to all known U.S. owners and operators of Diamond Aircraft Industries, Inc. (Diamond) Model DA 20-A1 airplanes. This AD requires fabricating and installing a placard and inserting limitations into the airplane's flight manual limitations section prohibiting spin maneuvers until a modification is installed. This AD results from an occurrence where a pilot's shoe jammed between the rudder control pedal and the firewall during a spin recovery in a Canadian registered HOAC-Austria Model DV 20 KATANA airplane. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent the pilot's shoe from becoming jammed between the rudder pedal and firewall which could result in loss of control of the airplane.

HOAC Austria Model DV-20 Katana Airplanes
Requires replacing the muffler with one of improved design, installing a heat shield around the exhaust system endpipe, and adjusting the airplane weight and balance.
Full official abstract
Airworthiness Directives; HOAC Austria Model DV-20 Katana Airplanes
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to certain HOAC Austria Model DV-20 Katana airplanes. This action requires replacing the muffler with one of improved design, installing a heat shield around the exhaust system endpipe, and adjusting the airplane weight and balance. This AD results from reports of cracks in the welding joint that connects the exhaust system endpipe to the muffler on three of the affected airplanes. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent separation of the exhaust system endpipe from the muffler because of cracks in the welding that connects these parts, which could result in heat damage to the electrical system and engine controls.

Diamond Aircraft Industries Model DA 20-A1 Airplanes
Requires inspecting the aft wing cavities for manufacturing debris, removing any debris found, and modifying the aileron pushrod fairings to allow them to flex.
Full official abstract
Airworthiness Directives; Diamond Aircraft Industries Model DA 20-A1 Airplanes
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to Diamond Aircraft Industries (Diamond) Model DA 20-A1 airplanes. This action requires inspecting the aft wing cavities for manufacturing debris, removing any debris found, and modifying the aileron pushrod fairings to allow them to flex. Several reports of the aileron controls becoming blocked because of manufacturing debris getting jammed between the short aileron pushrod and the pushrod exit fairing on both left and right wings prompted this action. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent the aileron controls from becoming blocked causing jamming between the short aileron pushrod and the pushrod fairing exit, which, if not detected and corrected, could cause loss of control of the airplane.
