Airworthiness Directives; DAHER AEROSPACE (Type Certificate Previously Held by SOCATA) Airplanes
The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2007-06-11 (AD 2007-06-11) for certain SOCATA (type certificate now held by DAHER AEROSPACE) Model TBM 700 airplanes. AD 2007-06-11 required repetitively inspecting the vertical stabilizer attachment fittings and bolts for cracks or corrosion, and, if necessary, repairing or replacing the damaged part and then applying a corrosion protection reinforcement. Since the FAA issued AD 2007-06-11, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which is the Technical Agent for the Member States of the European Union, superseded the previous Direction generale de l'aviation civile (DGAC) France AD to introduce new service information providing instructions for installing new vertical stabilizer attachment fittings having improved corrosion resistant material as an optional terminating action for the repetitive inspections. This AD retains the requirements of AD 2007-06-11 and includes a new optional terminating action for the repetitive inspections. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Airworthiness Directives; SOCATA-Groupe AEROSPATIALE Model TBM 700 Airplanes
This amendment supersedes Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2001- 05-03, which applies to certain SOCATA--Groupe AEROSPATIALE (Socata) Model TBM 700 airplanes. AD 2001-05-03 currently requires you to apply Loctite on attaching bolt/screw threads of inboard, central, and outboard carriages; increase tightening torques of associated hardware; and replace central carriage attaching bolts. The French airworthiness authority has determined that certain service information referenced in AD 2001-05-03 be removed and additional inspection of the flap carriage attaching bolts, screws, and barrel nut be included. Therefore, this AD will retain the requirements of the current AD and will add the information communicated by the French airworthiness authority. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent the flap attaching bolts/screws from becoming loose and separating from the airplane, which could cause rough or irregular control. Such rough or irregular control could lead to the loss of control of the airplane.

This document adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to all SOCATA--Groupe AEROSPATIALE (SOCATA) Model TBM 700 airplanes. This AD requires you to revise the Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) to include requirements for activating the airframe pneumatic deicing boots. This AD is the result of reports of in-flight incidents and an accident that occurred in icing conditions where the airframe pneumatic deicing boots were not activated. The actions specified by this AD are intended to assure that flightcrews have the information necessary to activate the pneumatic wing and tail deicing boots at the first signs of ice accumulation. Without this information, flightcrews could experience reduced controllability of the aircraft due to adverse aerodynamic effects of ice adhering to the airplane prior to the first deicing cycle.
