The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. The FAA previously sent this AD as an emergency AD to all known U.S. owners and operators of these engines. This AD was prompted by reports of second-stage power turbine (PT2) blade failures. This AD requires removal of affected PT2 blades prior to the next flight and prohibits installation of affected PT2 blades, as specified in a Transport Canada Emergency AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

This AD was prompted by several reports of low-time fractures of compressor turbine (CT) blades resulting in loss of power or in-flight shutdown (IFSD) of the engine. This AD requires replacement of certain CT vanes. This AD also requires removal from service of certain CT blades when these blades have been operated with certain CT vanes. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) PT6A-60AG, -65AG, -67AF, and -67AG turboprop engines. This AD requires removing Woodward fuel control units (FCUs) and installing an FCU that is eligible for installation. This AD was prompted by incidents of corrosion and perforation of the two-ply Cu-Be bellows in Woodward FCUs. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of the Woodward FCU and engine, in-flight shutdown, and loss of control of the airplane.

We are revising airworthiness directive (AD) 2014-17-08 for all Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) PT6A-114 and PT6A-114A turboprop engines. AD 2014-17-08 required initial and repetitive borescope inspections (BSIs) of compressor turbine (CT) blades, and the removal from service of blades that fail inspection. This new AD adds an additional single crystal CT blade, reduces the affected population, and corrects the Credit for Previous Action paragraph. This AD was prompted by P&WC development of an additional single crystal CT blade that corrects the unsafe condition. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of CT blades, which could result in damage to the engine and damage to the airplane.

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PT6A-60A and PT6A-65B turboprop engines. This AD requires replacing Woodward propeller governor assemblies, part number (P/N) 8210-212H. This AD results from six incidents during airplane acceptance flight testing where directional control of the airplane was difficult to maintain during landing. We are issuing this AD to prevent loss of directional control and damage to the airplane.

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), that is applicable to Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A series turboprop engines that have certain turbine exhaust ducts that were modified by a number of different companies. This amendment requires inspections for low- quality welds and cracks of a large population of turbine exhaust ducts. This amendment is prompted by reports of cracks along the weld seams of certain turbine exhaust ducts. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent failure of the turbine exhaust duct due to cracking that could result in possible separation of the reduction gearbox and propeller from the engine, and possible loss of control of the airplane.

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PT6A-25C and -114A turboprop engines. This amendment will require initial and repetitive visual inspections, and eventual replacement of the compressor bleed valve assembly, with a redesigned valve assembly for -114A and -25C engines. This amendment is prompted by reports of two occurrences of uncommanded engine power loss. The actions specified by this AD are intended to detect wear in the compressor bleed valve assembly which may cause valve orifice blockage, resulting in a loss of power, an inability to accelerate the engine, and an in-flight shutdown.

This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PT6A-67D turboprop engines, that currently requires inspections of the compressor turbine (CT) disk and blades for cracking and other irregularities using visual inspections and fluorescent penetrant inspections (FPI). That AD also requires amending the Beech Model 1900D Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) and installing a placard that alerts the pilot of a requirement to restrict continuous engine operation above 94.0% and below 97.1% N1 (Gas Generator RPM). In addition, that AD requires the installation of parts having an improved design including a CT stator assembly, a CT shroud housing, CT turbine blades, feather seals, and a small exit duct assembly . This amendment continues the requirements of the current AD and adds the requirements to remove the placard from the cockpit and to remove the amendment to the AFM after installation of the improved engine components. This amendment is prompted by reports from operators and the manufacturer stating that the engine RPM operating restriction is not required after installation of the improved engine components, and that this engine operating restriction can impact aircraft handling. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent aircraft handling problems due to imposition of the engine RPM restriction.
